MGL Fuel Level Sender Calibration

MGL Fuel Level Sender Calibration

MGL Avionics Capacitance Fuel Level Sender Calibration

Senders are produced by Centroid Products

MGL Avionics sell several standard lengths of capacitance probe (12" and 24" long). The senders can be bent above the black mark on the probe (first several inches only), and they can be cut to length. See manual below for full instructions.

If the sender is NOT cut, there is NO Empty/Full Calibration that needs to be done on the sender - you go straight to Fuel Level Calibration on the EFIS. If the sender HAS been cut shorter, then the Empty/Full Calibration must be done before EFIS Fuel Level Calibration is done.

IF SENDER HAS BEEN CUT, follow these instructions to calibration sender:

EMPTY:

--Sender out of the tank to simulate empty
--Wired normally and power off
--Also have a jumper between Send and Neg (yel and black)
--Turn the power ON and count 10 seconds, at which point remove the jumper.
--The Send voltage should do a couple of bounces between high volts and low volts before finishing on 0.3v

FULL:

--Sender in a full tank
--Wired normally and power off
--Also have a jumper between Send and Neg (yel and black)
--Turn the power ON and count 20 seconds, at which point remove the jumper.

--The Send voltage should do a couple of bounces between high volts and low volts before finishing on 4.0v

AFTER SENDER CALIBRATION (IF REQUIRED) PROCEED TO FUEL LEVEL CALIBRATION IN THE EFIS

Fuel level calibration in the EFIS involves setting your total fuel volume for the tank in the EFIS and then adding fuel incrementally to the 6 points in the calibration and entering the raw value from the sender to the correct calibration point as you go.
