Sandia STX 165R Remote Mode-C Transponder Connection Manual

Attached is the manual for connecting the Sandia STX 165R Remote Mode-C Transponder to the MGL Avionics Odyssey/Voyager, XTreme and iEFIS systems. Also attached is the harness schematic for the unit.

Note: Only the remote-mount STX 165R (and not the panel-mount STX 165) can be remote-controlled.

Installation Notes:

  • For connection to the iEFIS with iBox, use iBox RS-232 channels 3, 4 or 5 (save channels 1 and 2 for high speed RS-232 applications such as ADS-B). The example below shows using RS-232 channel 4.
  • For connection to iEFIS-Lite, use any RS-232 channel
  • Remember that with RS-232, the transmitter from one device (TX) connects to the receiver of the other device (RX) and vice versa.


On the iEFIS and iEFIS-Lite, once physical connection is made, the following 3 settings are required in MENU > SYSTEM SETUP MENU:
