Engine Senders Setup - Getting Indications to Read Correctly

When you suspect an engine sender is not reading correctly, the steps to correct the problem are as follows:

STEP 1: CHECK GROUNDING TO ENGINE BLOCK

95% of all engine sender reading trouble is cause by insufficient Reference Ground to Engine Block. Please read this article for more on this.

STEP 2: CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTIONS

Often reverse polarity or incorrect wiring is the cause of misreading engine senders.

STEP 3: CHECK SETTINGS

Since many of these instruments are setup to connect to a wide variety of senders, it is important to make sure the setups are correct. Incorrect settings will result in incorrect readings.
